Fees and inclusions

There are two basic registration options for the International Handbell Symposium—one for Directors and ringing delegates, and another for non-ringing delegates. Within these options, there are different categories, which will help us better understand how you will participate in the event.

Massed ringing participant

Early-bird – $1100 AUD, Regular – $1200 AUD, Late – $1300 AUD*

Early registration deposit: $300 AUD*

This option includes anyone participating as a ringer or team/choir director in the massed ringing activities. It also includes massed-ringing conductors, and IHC guild representatives. In Registration Step One, you will be asked to enter the number of adult and youth participants, and your guild. In step two, you will need to provide the name of each participant in your group and categorize them as adult ringer, youth ringer, director, ringing chaperone, ringing translator, guild representative, or massed ringing conductor.

Non-ringing delegate

Early-bird – $760 AUD, Regular – $830 AUD, Late – $900 AUD*

Early registration deposit: $300 AUD*

Non-ringing delegates include non-ringing chaperones and translators who are accompanying ringers of affiliated Guilds and who will remain on-site throughout the event to fulfill their chaperone/translator responsibilities, and non-ringing friends and family accompanying ringing participants to the event who wish to go on the 4-day tour programme. In Registration Step One, you will be asked to identify the number of chaperones/translators, and the number participating in the non-ringing programme.

*Note all amounts are listed in Australian Dollars.  Use the conversion chart to the right to help you determine cost estimate in your own currency.  Early-bird pricing is available from 1 October 2017 to 4 March 2018.  Regular pricing is available from 5 March 2018 to 30 June 2018. Late pricing will be charged after 30 June 2018.

Chaperones

All young people 17 years or younger must be accompanied by an adult. The Chaperone Ratio Policy is one adult chaperone (ringing or non-ringing) for every 15 young people.

At all times, the chaperones will be responsible for arranging and supervising the youth delegates.

Chaperones must provide documented evidence of any dietary requirements and special needs of the youth, and contact details of parents/guardians. Chaperones will be responsible for holding and maintaining their assigned delegates’ medical, food preference and emergency contact information.

At all times, this information will need to be available throughout the International Handbell Symposium.

Non-ringing chaperones will be required to register for attendance at the International Handbell Symposium. This will provide access to events as listed above.

Cancellation policy

The deposit of $300 per person, which is available from 1 October 2017 to 12 November 2017, will not be refunded.

The cancellation of the early-bird payment will be available until the 4 March 2018. The refund will be minus the fee of $300.

In exceptional circumstances the regular registration fee from 5 March 2018 until 30 June 2018 and the late registration fee from 1 July 2018, may be refunded less $300 on application to the Registrar at RegistrarIHS2018@internationalhandbells.org

Delegate substitution is permitted.

There are three registration options available for the International Handchime Festival:

  • Directors and ringers—see the below ‘Handchime ringer registration’
  • non-ringing chaperones and translators—see the below ‘Non-ringing translators & chaperones’
  • other non-ringing delegates who wish to go on tours—see the details on the ‘International Handbells Symposium’ tab.

Handchime ringer registration

Early-bird – $399 AUD, Regular – $416 AUD, Late – $425 AUD*

Early registration deposit: $200 AUD*

Choose this option for anyone playing or directing a team that is playing in the massed chiming rehearsals and concert. This registration includes the following:

Non-ringing translators & chaperones

$200 AUD* (regardless of the date of registration)

Choose this option if you will be attend event sessions only as a translator or chaperone and are not participating as a chimer. This registration includes the following:

Cancellation policy

If cancellation occurs in the Early Bird period between 1 October 2017 and 4 March 2017, the deposit or registration fee paid, less $100, will refunded.

Massed ringing participants

$155 AUD* (regardless of date of registration)

Choose this option for all ringers and directors of choirs/teams participating in the massed ringing activities for the festival. This includes ringing chaperones. The following items are included in registration:

  • access to all Youth massed ringing sessions
  • 3 dinners
  • 3 lunches
  • 3 morning teas
  • 3 afternoon teas
  • foam and tables
  • performance at the Sunday night concert of massed ringing and individual ensembles
  • performance at the Monday night International Handbell Symposium opening ceremony.

Non-ringing chaperones & translators

$135 AUD* (regardless of date of registration)

Choose this option for non-ringing chaperones and translators.  The following items are included in the registration fee:

  • access to all Youth massed ringing sessions
  • 3 dinners
  • 3 lunches
  • 3 morning teas
  • 3 afternoon teas
  • entry to the Sunday night concert of massed ringing and individual ensembles
  • entry to the Monday night International Handbell Symposium opening ceremony.
